I just wanted to compliment you on the snappiness of the website. I’ve been using it for a while now and had gotten frustrated with how slow it responded, but it is a lot better now. Good work!

We have about a 4,000 sq ft driveway and we were initially going to go the cheapest route of asphalting it, when we found cobblesystems.com. These cobbles come in huge sheets and you can lay down 400 sq ft in an hour! We watched the website video and it's definitely a DIY project. Come to find out, we can order all the materials and do it ourselves for the price of someone else coming in and laying an asphalt driveway. No comparison when it comes to the look! We are excited!

I called my local dealer and he states that the prices are $5.60 a sq ft for the straight mats (more for the circular mats) and it's $42 for the epoxy grout that covers 30 sq ft. So, doing the math, your 4,000 sq ft driveway is $22,400 for materials plus $5,628 for grout, and you need to buy sand for the grout, 6" of road base for 4,000 sq ft, rent a plate compactor and a portable mixer. You can save probably $2-$5 a sq ft. going DIY.

Does that compare with installed asphalt in you area? I was considering chip rock or asphalt for our driveway. I may think about doing this cobblestone system for the smaller parking area and walkway leading up to my house and driveway and do the rest in chip rock. I HATE shoveling snow off gravel. Hard surfaces will also melt the snow faster, another plus.

It looks a lot less backbreaking than doing regular concrete pavers. I installed pavers around my pool, and it was a major PITA, mostly because it was slow-going and they were heavy. I kept thinking it would be cheaper and easier to just have someone pour cement while I sip lemonade. :)
