Hi All,

I am about a month away from bidding out my plans (they are in structural engineering now) and I have been going over the estimate from my local UBuildIt office. Some of their numbers seem pretty close, and some seem way out of line. The stucco line item I have no idea about, though. They estimated $12,000 for a 2,200 sq ft house. I actually worked out the exterior wall surface area and the gable ends (didn't exclude windows or doors though) and I came up with 2,750 sq ft of area that will need to be stuccoed. So UBuildIt's estimate is about $4.36/sf or $39.24/sy.

Just wondering if anybody has had any stucco bids recently and can offer up some comparison data. Seems online I am reading $8-$10/sf, but that would set my bid at $22,000 - $27,500 which is nothing short of ridiculous.

-Jeff

We just received our bid yesterday. Unfortunately, I can't find any measurements for it. To give you an idea of our home, it is 3,300 sq ft, typical two-story European design. We also are only having the front and both sides done, but not the back of the house. However, we are having all our trim (which we were going to use Fypon, before) done in a contrasting stucco color. Even the trim in the back of the house, so it all matches. My bid came in at $25,542

We're very happy with this number, as the gentlemen who owns the company always handles high-end homes in the upper figures range. We expected a much higher number. I hope this helps.

Alan

Around here it is about $7/s.f. for synthetic (Dryvit or similar) installed. If you have an ICF house, you already have the foam substrate, and it is about $4/s.f. installed. This is acrylic and not the "real" stucco.

It will be interesting to see what the bid comes out at. My local UBuildIt franchise said that "Dryvit" and equivalents were "considerably more expensive" than the traditional three-coat stucco we are planning on doing; however, at $25K for a 3,300 sq ft house, that sounds pretty expensive on a per square foot basis. I'll re-post when the bid comes in.

Around here, I doubt you could even find anyone doing a traditional three-coat stucco, even the contractors using cement-based stucco don't use three coats. And if you could find it, it won't be cheaper than Dryvit. The stucco installers are all plasterers, and they are plenty busy.

Just goes to show how pricing is a regional issue.
