Does anyone have any comments on the Premium Atlantic vinyl windows manufactured by JELD-WEN? They are more reasonable than Andersen and have a lifetime guarantee.

Thanks.

I have heard only excellent things about them. Andersen and Pella are also very good brands -- I think they are all quite similar in quality. I went with Andersen because I was able to get them at auction at unbelievably low prices. My last home had Andersen and I was very happy with them.

Thanks Faye! I appreciate your comments. Can't afford Andersen Stormwatch and can get JELD-WEN for about half the price.

Building codes on the coast are brutal.

FWIW: I put the JELD-WEN Premiums in my house. The house isn't done yet, so I can't comment on how they're going to hold up in the long run, but they seem like decent windows.

They're not on a scale with Andersen though. They're more on a par with Milguard.
But they're decent windows. I think you'd be happy with them.

I used JELD-WEN on all my windows, interior and exterior doors. So needless to say, I spent a lot of money on them. I live in Wyoming on top of a hill, where we get high winds. All my windows leak air around them horribly and a lot of dust and snow blows in. After many calls and complaints I got a number and name of someone really high up in the company. He thought it was funny about the trouble I was having and said their windows are not designed to keep 60-mph gusts out.

They would not even send someone out to look at them. The most he would do is give me any replacement window I chose at what he said was cost. But what I found funny was my construction discount at the local dealer was cheaper. I will never buy another one of their products again for I have never had such bad customer service in my life. They build the windows here in town, so it wasn't like they had to send a rep way out of his way to look at them.

Thanks for the information, Clint - that is VERY bad customer service.  Why would you want a replacement window when you already know that their windows aren't designed for your needs? Have you tried adding some caulking to try and improve the air and snow infiltration until you can replace? Good Luck - sorry to hear of your situation and appreciate the warning.

I had a local glass company make me some panes of glass the exact same size as the screens. During the winter months I put them in place of the screens which blocks out the wind and snow. It just sucks doing this twice a year, and during the summer I get a lot of dirt. I just don't have the money to replace brand new windows.
