Hi,

Does anyone know what the prices are for brick or stone siding (veneer), per skf... materials and labor? I have no idea...

John, I don't remember what my bids were, but I know they were shocking. The stone was a lot more than the brick. The mason said that stone is more because it takes more time. They have to sort it out and pick each stone. The bid for the front of my house labor only was $12K. I did it myself and saved the $12K. It wasn't that hard and I live in a rural area, so I have a kind of rustic house anyway.

I wanted it to look natural and I've had tons of compliments on it. I put up 12 pallets in about 12 days with help on about 1/2 of those days. I will be a grandma in June so I think if I can do it - anyone can. Just takes some patience. Good Luck, Faye

We paid around $20K for the entire front of our 2,250 sq. ft. Ranch with two gables and a stepped foundation, front of garage, plus features like ribboning and corners. I have pictures on "my construction website". The cost is hard to generalize per square foot though, because anytime you go over 9 feet it gets expensive. Our cost got higher faster because I had two gables bricked all the way to the top. The one gable was about 20 feet up and the other was more, since it was a stepped foundation. So it went from the middle of the basement wall to the top of the roofline gable. The reason is scaffolding. Anytime a mason has to haul and install scaffolding, the cost goes up. This requires much more time for them to personally lift the materials up and down from those heights. Also gables require a lot of cuts, which I am sure is not pleasant to be doing on scaffolding that high up.
