I'm not certain where many of you are in your projects, but I wanted to let everyone in on some information on some great deals on appliances.
I am a fairly-informed shopper and love a great deal. I am a member of DirectBuy and frequently purchase many of the same items at comparable prices over the Internet. (Us-Appliance.com has about the same prices as DirectBuy, but shipping is free this month on many items.)
However I have come across another option. I went to the "Scratch and Dent Sale" at Appliance Direct. From what I understand, this is a sale that occurs when they are opening a new store.
Again, I love a great deal, but am skeptical of anything that sounds too good to be true.
I would recommend that anyone that has yet to purchase appliances check out this sale. They have a bunch of stuff, on every end of the spectrum. From GE profile and Monogram series to KitchenAid Architect series appliances to lower-end stuff... all at about a third of the original price. I found a Jenn-Air stainless-steel dishwasher, checked on the Internet with my laptop, usual cost is $933... at the sale it was $317; with a dent on the side where it can't be seen. GE profile compactor, internet price $550, sale price $211.
Some of the merchandise was noticeable damaged, but most has minor dents in areas that can't be seen.
Also reassuring is the fact that all of the merchandise can have additional 4-yr. warranty purchased for in-home replacement.
The sale is on until Saturday May 5th, the address of my local store is 2306 South French Avenue, Sanford, FL 32771. It is open 8 am - 8 pm, and they are getting five plus trucks a day with new merchandise, so if you don't find what you are looking for it might be worth checking back.
Hope this helps someone, and good luck.
