Designer Dale Booth says: “Go to an area where they are building a lot of houses and ask if you can scavenge through their scrap piles. You can probably get $200-$300 of nails and hangers. Also scavenge for lumber. Stuff over 16 inches is useful for fire blocking, backing behind cabinets and towel bars.”
O-B Preston H. procured recycled 1” plywood from the Blue Bird bus factory in Ohio that was used as flooring in school buses. He used it as extra strong flooring and wall sheathing in his custom home.
