It took almost a year to get a C.O. but we made it. We are planning our next venture in two years. The house is beautiful and worth all the energy, sweat, struggle and joy!

Yes finally we are finished. Been so busy trying to finish I haven't had time to made any post. We came in a little over budget, but who doesn't. The concrete killed us, Between the shop, foundation, garage, porches, and driveway we had 293 yards. Subs were great, very few problems, but I'm glad it's over. I think we saved about $45000 - $50000 by doing it ourselves. Hope you'll goes as well.    Stan in Knoxville

Yes, finally we are finished. Been so busy trying to finish I haven't had time to make any journal entries. We came in a little over budget, but who doesn't? The concrete killed us. Between the shop, foundation, garage, porches, and driveway we had 293 yards. Subs were great, very few problems, but I'm glad it's over. I think we saved about $45,000 - $50,000 by owner-building. Hope you'll do as well.

All has gone very well to this point, but things are slowing. Electrician is two weeks out, granite tops four weeks, no plumber till countertops are in. We're hoping to be finished in 6 weeks.

Well, it's probably obvious we've been busy. We're finishing the inside and the exterior steps and porches. Cabinets are next, then final painting, plumbing and electric. Subs have been great, no problems (none). We have gone over budget in some places, some due to us, some out of our control. I'll post inside photos after cabinets are in.   Stan

We have been waiting for the electric rough-in for two weeks. Plumbing, HVAC, fireplace and roof are finished. All inspections should be done next week ready for insulation. All is going well. We drove 8 hrs last weekend to the Kraftmaid warehouse, got about half of what we need. One more trip and we will buy the rest from the local store.

7 1/2 days to this point. These guys are unbelievable. Ran out of lumber on day 7. They have about 1/2 day to finish when lumber arrives. HVAC, plumber, doors and windows by another sub this week.

This photo is after only four days of framing, one of which was raining off and on. They were so fast the lumberyard had a hard time keeping up. The entire house package was on site by the fourth day. They tell me three-four more days it will be completely under roof, all stick built.

We have our dream-house land, finally, 9 ac., flat, half open, half wooded. In Tennessee, flat is rare. We just finished our barn/garage last month. Morton Building 42' x 105' with a 12' shed roof on one side. Neighbors loved it. We are starting the process of taking sub bids on all trades. Hope to break ground by end of Sept.
