I took a chance today on the condition of the road to run another load of boxes up to Tanglewood after work. I wanted to see if we'd gotten a bunch of snow (and hence the road was going to be problematic for moving other stuff) or if it had mostly passed us by.

Turned out we got about 2" of the white stuff, but while things were muddy, they weren't by any means impassable.

Made a neat discovery about the parking apron. One may recall that we insulated under the apron prior to the pour so as to maximize the effectiveness of the ice melt system I installed. The weather is just warm enough that the snow is melting relatively rapidly on the road and just about anyplace else that had absorbed enough sunlight over the past couple of days to retain heat. The slab of the parking apron doesn't get as much sunlight, though, and it's (relatively) thin when compared to the earth under the roadway. The insulation under the slabs prevented the ground beneath them from getting very warm either, so the result was it is rather obvious just now where the slabs of insulation are... wow!

I probably won't be able to get a picture like this under most circumstances, so I thought it was kinda neat to see it now. Wow.

I thought this was just amazing.
Believe it or not, those areas of snow measure just almost exactly 4x8'... the same size as the insulation.
Obviously the insulation sheets separated slightly during the pour. I'm not worried about that inside the house since they were held in place by the footers.
