Warning: This might sound a bit like a Poulan Chainsaw ad....

A few days ago I had the sad responsibility of helping our fine and trusty Remington electric chainsaw into Junkyard Heaven when it burned up while cleaning up some of the trees above the house site. It was sad but since it only cost about $100 I'd say we got our money's worth out of it.
Today I bought a new chainsaw and boy do I like it! Lowe's (at least the local ones) don't sell the Remingtons anymore, instead offering the Poulan line of chainsaws. I like the Poulans and have heard that they are of high quality, and since they had an electric that was virtually identical to the Remington (it even uses the same chain!) the choice was easy. It's also a friendly and bright green that definitely makes it stand out from the other equipment we have on site--this is apparently the "Poulan color" judging from the other tools they had at Lowe's.
After a quick once-over I decided I liked this chainsaw much more than the first one. It has a chain brake to lock the chain and prevent accidental starts, and it feels slightly heavier/tougher--not enough to be a problem, but enough to feel more "solid". It cuts clean and true, and I made quick work of many logs this afternoon while Colleen was busy getting a secondary firepit set down in the river valley below the house site.
New toys are fun!
