Concrete John didn't make it up until this evening. But he is ready to begin in the morning.
Got a VM from Santa Fe early afternoon that put me over the top. My blood pressure went through the roof. Girl said my electrical permit was approved, I just needed to pay fee. But there was an issue with the plumbing permit. What. Called back and she said it was disapproved because it was a commercial project. Unbelievable! Wasn't this already taken care of three weeks ago?!!!!!
I got the name and phone number of the chief inspector, called and left a very frustrated message regarding the length of time this has taken, the fact that this was sorted out three weeks ago and yada yada yada.
I decided to stop by the village office here to see if my inspector could help as he had approved the thing as a residence. He wasn't in, but his assistant was. I tell her my plight, and she gets on the phone with Santa Fe to find out what's going on with this. She makes another call and gets my plan reviewer. He then explains, (perhaps the chief had already called him?) and lets her know that my application and plans had been thrown into the commercial stack but someone, and everything is a mistake. A little later, the chief calls me and tells me the same thing, but also adds - that residential permits are just issued. No plans required, no plan review! Why was I told differently in the beginning?! Working with government entities is the most frustrating thing in the world.
On a softer note - we went out looking for elk this evening as it is birthing time. Found a small group of about 40 with many ready to calve. One newborn maybe a day or two old. Spots and all!
And yesterday we saw our first bears! Man can they move fast!
