Your website is wonderful! I am so happy I ran across it. Building your home without using a general contractor who knows so much about the business can be intimidating to someone who has never done it. Seeing others out there who are doing it and commenting on the process is very encouraging.

I was finishing loading slash into the trailer and truck from several trees I had cut, working on the side of a short hill above a section of driveway. I had been there for about an hour or so. Finished up, and was taking off my chaps and gloves when I happened to look up and saw four-footed neighbors looking at me from the edge of the future parking area above me. Took another look and there was another doe exactly where I had been working two minutes earlier. Pictures are attached. A bit hard to see in the pictures because it was getting dark and they are camouflaged pretty well, but I have to say, this wildlife is pretty tame.

Met with a local concrete guy out of Taos and he is interested in doing the ICFs and foundation. That's a relief. Now have two people who are interested. He is well known by the contractors here and he was actually suggested by one of the contractors I have considered using. He has also put in a word on taking trees down for me in exchange for the firewood. Although I have lined one guy up, there is so much up there, I think it's going take both to get it done in a timely manner.

We head to Santa Fe to talk to a window supplier and the ICF contractor I talked to late last week. Have a final window schedule after a number of changes - some because of design changes on the house, others to reduce the cost of the windows. Will send it off to a couple of other suppliers for rebids as well.

Look closely where the sky meets the vegetation and you'll see some curious neighbors
Look really close in the bushes and you can make out a doe no more than 10 yards from where I was standing.
Load of slash. Many more to go.
Most of the trees that need to come down are this size and larger. This one is about 15" in diameter and 40' tall.
