Today I wired the money for the new battery rack!
Turns out I needed a slightly different layout than the "standard" one that Outback sells. They normally put these batteries in a 6 high and 4 wide configuration, and that bothered me a bit. These batteries are VERY heavy (~370 pounds) and I didn't want to have to deal with getting them UP that high. It took a bit of doing, but they were able to set me up with a 4 high and 6 wide rack instead.
It'll take a couple of extra weeks to fabricate, but I figure the lower height will be more than worth it. I'm still going to attack the race to the wall in some fashion for extra stability, but knowing I won't have ~1,400 pounds six feet off the floor will make me feel much more better.
Still gotta get the remainder of the old shed hauled up the hill and the old Deka batteries relocated so Solar LeRoy can take them away for recycling. We've had a fair amount of snow the last couple of weeks which has rather put a damper on getting Things Done Up There. But fair weather is ahead!
