We hired a friend of a friend to come run the show and he did a bang-up job. Too bad the weather was so crappy. It was snowing and the wind was blowing which is dangerous for the wall walker. A group of guys from the base came to help (Mark, Kevin, John, Rick, Yancy and our son's friend David and a friend of his).  Since Bobby was the only one who had installed trusses, the guys found ways to help out doing other stuff. When I arrived Mark and Rick where planting our trees (we got a deal for specimen-sized so we had to buy them). See pictures.

The other guys got the garage and the covered patio trusses done. Bobby said he would come out and help again the 18th, but all the walls needed to be plumbed. If you start out with concrete not squared, it just climbs up the wall as it did in our case. The patio it was off by 3 1/2". So this week we will work at squaring up the interior walls.

In the forth picture down you can see how bad the weather was, but the next picture shows you God's promise, a faint rainbow above Mark and me. Enjoy!!

Hi Lori, I feel your pain! This is Bob and Sue building to the north end of you in Rancho haven. We too have experienced some setbacks and had trouble with our leach line trench caving in as you did. We hac to dig it 6' down and twice as long to get it  to pass inspection. We are currently trying to get weathered in over the next two weeks or else a complete change of crew! We have spent just over 240K and have most plumbing and electric in but are endeavoring to get the roof sheeted and the standing seam metal roof on to keep the floor from getting soaked. Then on to Stucco..........

Hey, Robert glad to hear things are looking ok for you. The large trusses you see standing in the above picture blew over with the last wind storm and the floor in the house is soaked. I just want to scream.

If we could have only dug 6' deep we would have been ok with our leach lines, but going that extra 4' is what did us in and we have no room to dig further, unless we move the road. Ricardo was not very helpful the last time he was out. But I am going to try and get a hold of the lady inspector in our area because she said we could get a waiver for the leach lines. The way is stands is we are about six feet across and need 7' feet worth of rock before the pipe. We don't have enough rock to fill the six foot span. I am going to look into renting something to hold the dirt from filling the 2' span we need. I have a flyer from Reno Trench and I think they have something that may work. Wish us luck!!!

Hope to meet you soon. Lori and Craig

Thanks Lori! On a clearer weekend We hopt to pull away and visit. We are not dried in yet and have lost some days due to weather. I have called for a ditch inspection for the gas water and elect lines tues. Looks like we are going to have to get a sub to come in and finish the roof sheeting as one of our framers went back to Oregon and the two that are left are doing a good job but are painfully slow and we have run out of weather and budget is starting to tear....Ah the joy of homebuilding..... Will let you know when we can make it out. Robert and Sue
