With the official ending of the winter season, I thought it would be good to assess how well my plans met up with reality. I usually aim higher than I hit of course, but I do try:
- Hang up more stuff – I honestly got very little of this done, as it happened. In part, I blame the miscellaneous other things that ate up some of my time, but in all honesty I can't put a lot of it there. While I moved pictures around to various places and perhaps staged them a bit better than they had been, I just didn't get the job done.
Giving myself a C here, mostly for the other things that needed doing. I can do better.
- Finish trim and thresholds around the house – I totally nailed this one, getting trim done everywhere there was trim to put in. Once I got into the "groove" I found myself really enjoying the measuring and cutting work, and the unusual situations posed by some situations (such as the 3 1/2" trim I needed to locate for the closet thresholds) proved stimulating. The last bits of quarter-round went in at the end of April and the house looks way more "finished" than I had thought.
Very much an A here, no question.
- Re-floor the computer room -- Well, I thought about it a lot and picked out the wood. Haven't bought it yet, though I did get the room cleaned out at least.
Can't give myself anything better than a D here in all honesty.
Fleshing out the new Shed – I got the new pad done for the propane done and a new light installed, but I didn't actually install any shelving or finish up the exterior under the eaves.
I think a C is the best I can award myself here.
In my defense I can add that this past winter was wicked in both snow, snow depths, and cold. On the brighter days I could have done shed work it was very cold, and if it wasn't very cold there was a foot of global warming out there. That definitely inclined me to not do as much as I could have.
So I did about as expected. Other than the trim no project was actually completed and that's just sad really. Gotta do better for summer!
