I had called Monday for an inspection since I had been out of town the past week. Never quite know when they are going to show up. So today, Wednesday, I go to the house to take some measurements for plenums, and I get a phone call without an ID. Hesitated to answer, but I did and was I glad! Plumbing inspector said he'd be right over. Took a quick look at what I had done per his last visit notes, said I should be a plumber and signed off. As he was leaving the house, he said he normally hates home owner permits as the are always a pain in the a --, but that I was a pleasure to work with. As long as my head was now swelling to and even larger size than my 7 1/4, I asked if he could talk to the mechanical inspector, that I had tried to get a gas permit but was turned down. He indicated he would. I'll do the same when I get the electrical rough in and hopefully I'll be able to persuade the fellow to let me do it.
I did some isometric drawings of the plenums, drain pans and transitions, and sent them to a couple local sheet metal shops for quotes along with a list of fittings I'll need. Should hear back by early next week.
We're scheduled to get some pretty cold weather again for the next week or so, so I blew down the water lines, as I have some copper and brass in certain spots, and made sure the traps had windshield washer fluid in them.
I think this weekend I'll go back to the electrical in an effort to try to get closer to finishing the rough in on that. Would be nice to get an inspection signed off on that in a couple weeks.
Ah,h,h. A dream project for one with A-D-D! So many things to do. So many ways to order the tasks!
