Or so it looks like when suited up to spray foam today. The walls of the house are sheathed with 1x6 shiplap and that of course is not tight at all. There were many areas that had gaps of 1/2" which of course would allow air to freely come and go and reduce the effectiveness of any loose fiber insulation we would install. 50% of the heat in a normally constructed house can be lost by air exchange within/out the building. While it would take a lot more effort for me to really tighten up the envelope, I am trying to cut out the vast amount of air exchange. The first and huge step is the spray foam the walls with a thin layer of foam to seal the leaks along the 1x6's. Running what was to be a thin 1" coating of foam to seal the stud cavity and filling the rest with more standard insulation. Got suited up in tyvek, donned gloves and a respirator suitable for urethanes, (best found at auto paint supply stores) and I went to work with a couple of kits from Foam it Green. Went well, but tough to keep it thin, especially with the wide gaps, as those took more to fill in, so ultimate thickness was generally much more than 1". Because of this, I've run short and need to order more. Not cheap, but less than hiring someone. And the difference in the noise transmission is amazing! Much quieter from street noise.

Also started to run drain lines. Tackled the hardest one first. Trying to fit a 3" line from a toilet through an 8" joist section while maintaining proper slope was very tight to say the least. But it's done and we can begin finishing that to the sewer all the while connecting the vanities, showers and tubs and second toilet to it. All in all a good start to the week.

Ready for anything in this get up
Yeah a little thicker than 1" I'd say
First and toughest part of the drain system
