It's been a couple of weeks since my last update and quite a bit has taken place. We sold our house that we are in currently and that's why the update is a little late. Work, packing and building a house can get a little crazy.
Since the last post, the roof panels are completely finished, the roof is decked, the outside of the house is decked, the roof is papered, the electrician is about 75% done, the HVAC is complete, windows are going in and the stucco has started. Sometimes it seems that we aren't getting anywhere fast when you look at it on a daily basis, but when you see what has been accomplished over a couple of weeks, you realize there really is a lot happening.
The biggest thing this week was the construction of the portico or as my project manager called it, the ___________ castle on the front of the house. (leaving the expletive out). I figured it was going to painful considering it took two weeks to convince him to start it. It definitely has changed the look of the house and we couldn't be happier with how it's coming out.
Our stucco has started and I've been very impressed with the sub for the first couple of days. We chose a synthetic called Sealmark and the sub (Josh) has been professional and is really doing a good job. At the rate he is going, he is going to have the first coat on the entire house by early next week.
The most surprising sub was our HVAC installer. I had thought this was going to be a few days on the site, but Mitch and his 66-year old father-in-law basically installed the unit, air exchanger and all the duct work in one day.
Will update as soon as the windows and doors are finished.
