First Major Snag

Got the pre-construction appraisal today. Appraisal with land I already own is about $30,000 more than my planning, bids, and budget indicates it will take to build the home as owner builder. It is $70,000 more than the GC bid I got. Will put everything on hold until I get it figured out. Bummer.

At Last

Planning is starting to pay off. County approved building permit today. Will push City to begin trenching for water and sewer. City will also begin to run electricity to building site. A little more expensive than I anticipated with impact fees and hook-up fees. Plan on arriving in Utah on June 10, 2009 to begin building layout locations and schedule temporary power inspection. Whew, finally getting off the ground after 20 months of prep! I was going to sell all the books Mark and Elaine sold to me but they are too dog-eared and marked up :) Good resources!
