Well almost, I've spent the last 6 months doing my own drawings in preparation for hopefully submitting for permit approval next week. What a learning experience it has been and to think the real time line is just beginning. Hopefully I will have become very good at this by the time I reach my set goal.
You see, I actually started this journey with a friend. We purchased 40 acres of desert land filled with Joshua and Junipers to build our retirement homes once we left California. Well, I chose to leave a little early to get a head start on mine and ended up talking him into going in on a double lot where I could build on a half and get my feet wet in this endeavor, live it for at least a year to make the county happy, look to rent or sell afterward and possibly begin building a second on the other half of the lot. Afterward, with all this experience behind me I would be ready to tackle designing and building my dream home.
So my goal is to knock out two homes of about 1,530 sq ft each and about a 3,300 sq ft home on my half of the 40.
So let the journey begin...
