Wow, has it been that long ago? Well, they say time flies when you're having fun... not sure if it's been fun.
We signed up with Start Build and took our time with the budget, I wanted to have a solid figure to start out with. Jim Austin is a great guy to deal with. The program they use is easy to use and has a place for everything, so all you have to do is just put it in there and you're done.
While waiting for engineered plans we decided to excavate for the house. J.E. Pelland Construction Inc. of Puyallup did an outstanding job! They fixed the driveway, removed 6 or 7 tree stumps and dug our good dirt out of the way so we could use it for landscaping later, all in four hours and under $2,000.
I decided to save some money by getting the building permit myself. Due to some slight glitches in the engineering I did have to go back and forth quite a bit. I picked up our building permit on 12/15/2008 and I have to say it wasn't as bad as it used to be. Pierce County has become more efficient than they used to be.
