Frustrating

We met with the third of three generals last night. It's frustrating because the reading that I keep taking away is that it can't be done the way we want it to be done. We both feel strongly that when we complete the financing package, that we want to only finance the parts of the house that we HAVE to, i.e., the foundation, framing, siding, etc. We'd like to pay for the trim-out, appliances, etc. out of our own pockets, because it seems silly to carry a mortgage for 30 years on a stove that lasts for 5-10. Does anyone else have thoughts on this?

I understand why... I just don't like it. I do like the bank itself...there's a lot to be said for someone you meet in person, who's familiar with the builders, etc. On another thread...is everyone else seeing a spread of $10k in a $50k package (bid by three yards)...or do I need to go back and revisit each vendor and make sure they bid it properly?
