Got my CO today (27 Nov 2007). Sort of anticlimactic compared to what it took to get there. We're happy though. I'll put some new pics up soon.

We're 2.5 months into our project. Our foundations, stem walls, slab, block and first tie beam are complete. So far, no real surprises. Although my framer did recently inform us his quote was labor alone (no materials). Anyway, we're keeping a photo journal here. I will try to post back to the journal any experiences that might help someone else in the future.

At the end of our fourth month. This is obviously a difficult house to construct. At each level, I have to form and pour a concrete tie beam. Each course (block, then tie beam) takes at least a week. For example: the block guys come out on Monday They're done by Wednesday. Then the tie beam guys show up. I'm lucky if they're on site in the same week as the block guys. They take two days to form the tie beam. Then the concrete gets poured the following Monday. The forms will come off on Wednesday or so, then the framers will show up to hang the floor trusses on Monday. Then it starts all over again. ARrrrggggggh!! I am ready to get out of this phase. I need to get to the point where I have more than one sub at a time on site. Once I get to that point, I think things will start to go a little faster. 8 months remaining.

Would like to emphasize to all O-B's that you ensure your plans are accurate (no missing or incorrect detail). Also understand the power of a pulled tight string (especially on more complicated homes). My concrete sub didn't pull a string on some piers. Now I'll have to make up for it in thicker stucco. Still marching forward. In framing now. Take a look at the pictures on my picture website here. Randy
