Timber Frame Accents and Trusses

I've met with a local timber framer who will be doing the accent work on our project. A young guy with a lot of enthusiasm, talent, and integrity. We're looking forward to seeing what he and the architect come up with. I'm attaching a picture of a recent truss that he completed for another house. I'm just hoping he isn't too expensive by the time we are ready to have him work on our project. If you appreciate timber work have a look at his website at idahottf.com. So, we are off and running.  I took a trip to the granite store today. Not really to look at granite countertops, because I think that is a little premature, but to take pictures of their exterior stone work for the architect. I've emailed him the pictures to give him an idea of a look that we BOTH like. I'll try and post pictures later. We are leaning toward natural stone veneer. The look of real stone without the foundation requirements. I also talked with a mason today that said to expect $30 a square foot installed for the natural stone veneer. The company that sells the stone carried by the local store is called telluridestone.com. Check them out, they've got some neat stuff and it is important to see in person.

I also bought us a couple of notebooks today to keep track of our ideas and to start organizing our thoughts. I've also downloaded the xls sheet named sample_budget and started customizing it to what we need. We're looking forward to seeing what the architect comes up with as a first pass concept. Exciting!
